Last November, in our last first update, Rogers had just shut down Pinnacle Hills Parkway to add a pair of roundabouts, a new intersection by the Walmart AMP Ampitheatre, and help facilitate construction of the new Tapestry Hotel which is due to open in fall 2024.

Pinnacle Hills Parkway has been reopened for a few months now and the roundabouts are completed (mostly), though they have started work on a new one at the intersection of Northgate Road and Pinnacle Hills Parkway. Tapestry Hotel is now topped out and work is underway on the interior construction as well as the exterior facade.

The light at Northgate and Pinnacle Hills will be replaced with yet another roundabout.

On one hand the traffic seems to be getting heavier in the area, and while the reduction of lanes might seem to be contradictory to helping the flow of traffic, I think that it’s slowed traffic down and it still moves through the area fairly well. I am curious what the long term plan is for the light at JB Hunt Drive and W Pauline Whitaker however, as that seems to be the only major bottleneck now.

One other side note, Roger’s Uptown is now serviced by the only intercity bus line in the county now, which connects to the new Walmart campus, NWACC, and downtown Rogers and Bentonville. I see city buses there pretty regularly, so I hope usage ticks up. Judging by the somewhat eratic route, I think this is multiple lines lumped into one until they work out the kinks of running a bus system and get more stock available.

In any case, Uptown Rogers is starting to resemble an actual city, and at the rate of construction I would say in 5-10 years it will be a true “downtown” for the region. Maybe we might get some high rises by then as well…
